Whitney had Kindergarten Carousel at her soon-to-be elementary school. By carousel, they mean rotating around between the four Kindergarten teachers to get a feel for life in the classroom. Sweet Whitney, as we were walking in, heard some music and said, "Oh, I think I hear the carousel!" Poor thing thought she was going to ride an actual carousel. She must have thought that Kindergarten was going to be the best place ever. But in true Whitney style she didn't bat an eye and bounced on in to get checked in. She was in the "yellow square" group. Which means nothing, just a way to divide them up. While the kids carouselled around, us parents had a meeting and a tour of the school. So much to learn and get straight in my own mind...Whitney had a fun time seeing all the classrooms, singing songs, reading books, doing math. But her favorite room was the art room. She's holding firm to her dream of being an artist when she grows up. We'll see what her future holds. To wrap up the night they had cookies and milk. Probably her most favorite part!
