Doughnuts With Dad

Whitney's school had a "Doughnuts with Dad" day which we thought Ben wasn't going to be able to go to.  It was at 7:45 am on a Wednesday morning.  Football is not the most flexible of jobs during the season.  Holidays, birthdays, and especially "Doughnuts with Dad" day are all secondary to football, and especially on Wednesday mornings.  It's the first day of the week to prepare for their next opponent.  Ben specifically has a special teams meeting at 8 am on Wednesday mornings.  First thing on the agenda is kick-off return, his only special team, so it's pretty important (in the football world) for him to be there.  Whitney was pretty sad when she learned daddy wasn't going to be able to come.  And they really wanted it to be males only, so mommy wasn't even able to go in his place.  But then we realized that it was the bye week, and learned that the schedule was a little different, and Ben asked for permission to miss a little bit of that special teams meeting since they didn't have an opponent to prepare for.  Whitney was so excited that her daddy got to be there with her!  Daddy was pretty excited too!  And we all said lots of thanks to God that day for the timing of it all.  Any other week, Ben definitely wouldn't have been able to go.
